Dale Knecht

Dale Knecht

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Summer Classmate, Dale Knecht, on December 3, 2012.  After high school graduation, Dale spent two years serving on an LDS missionary assignment and soon after went into the Navy.  He served two tours in Viet Nam.  He graduated from Cerritos College in 1986.  Dale and his wife, Gail, were married in 1970, and they had four sons, Daniel, Timothy, John and Matthew.  The Knecht's lived in Buena Park for 32 years.  During that time, he had a varied career:  worked at Firestone, Armco Steel as a machinist, McDonnell Douglas as a MFG Engineer and then for Century 21 Real Estate as an agent and notary. He retired and he and Gail moved to Emmett, Idaho, where they built a home on five acres.  He loved stepping out his back door to fish and hunt and the golf course was only three miles away.  Dale survived several battles with cancer, which may have resulted from his time in the Navy, but received wonderful care in Idaho from the Veteran's Hospital.  In April, 2012, however, he was diagnosed with a brain tumor but remained ambulatory right up to the end.  Dale is survived by his loving wife, Gail, four sons and their wives and eight grandchildren.

Hi Gail, I knew Dale in high school. We went to the same ward. South Gate 2nd. I was sorry to hear about his passing. As I am reading some of these profiles I feel sad that I didn't stay in touch with more of my friends from High School and church. My husband too passed away almost 3 years ago this August.  I have 3 married children that live real close to me. They have givens 9 grandchildren.  Thank goodness for the gospel and my family, I don't think I could of made it.  Stay strong. Kay
