Dave Duran passed away in his sleep from natural causes on February 17, 2014. He served an honorable 22 years for Long Beach Police Department. Dave is survived by his wife of 37 years, Pamela, children Nicholas, Lauren, Sherrill Andrew Dean, and was awaiting the birth of his granddaughter in April. Loved by wonderful friends and family, Dave was a great athlete, football player, weight lifter, and an all around terrific guy!!! He will truly be missed!

I fondly remember Dave and what a nice guy he was--not only a great athlete--football player and track star doing the shotput--but he was always smiling, polite, sincere and he made us laugh! A bunch of us, boys and girls, would meet during morning class break in the area outside the cafeteria and have those delicious cinnamon rolls, talk and laugh! It was happy times and made school much more fun!!! I was looking forward to seeing Dave at our 50th. Wish he would have come, as I know many of our classmates would have loved to see him and hear stories of his life after South Gate High! Dave, you will be missed for sure! May God be with you and comfort your family and those you loved and those who loved you!!
