Allen and I met at Southgate Junior High. We were in the Boy Scouts together, and shared many fun family times together. His oldest brother Bill and my sister Carol were married in 1957. Allen and I each made a tooled leather three-legged stool as wedding presents. We did see much of each mother when he moved to Laffatte, CA. Allen, and his parents, and two of his brothers were all excellent cooks. I was on a business trip to Northern, Ca in the summer of 1995 or therabouts, when I was passing through Laffatte, and stopped to call Allen. He was home on his day off, and it was close to dinner time. He took me to a fine dining restaurant, where he chose a fine wine to complement our steaks. Allen then ordered dessert for us both. It was my first time to enjoy creme brulee. Allen had become not just a good cook, but an Executive Chef at a fine dining restaurant.
