Eric Russell Erickson was born September 12, 1944 and grew up in South Gate with his two sisters, Linda, W'61, and Carol, S'64. Their family was good friends with Mary Stowe Mecher's, S'62/ Their dads were best friends and looked so much alike they were often mistaken as brothers. The families did a lot together, but Mary recalls that when they were at school, they didn't acknowledge each other. Eric was in one of the car clubs in high school and was a nice, friendly guy.
Through researching prior reunion memory books, as we lost contact with his family, we were able to discover some information on Eric's life. Eric attended East Los Angeles College and Cal State L.A., where he received his B.A. in Industrial Arts. He served two years in the Navy and was stationed on the U.S.S. Intrepid Cus 11. He worked for Max Factor and Avon in a management capacity. He married his first wife, Sharon, in 1969, and they attended our Tenth Reunion.
Eric has traveled to Rio de Janeiro, Sydney Austrailia, New Zealand, Singapore, Japan, the Philippines, Cuba, Aruba and Hong Kong. Along with traveling, Eric enjoyed bowling and tennis in his younger years.
In 1973, work brought Eric to the Thousand Oaks area where he and his second wife, Rosa, made their home and were happily married for 48 years prior to his death. Eric had a very successful career in business, eventually retiring as a business owner. He and Rosa attended several of our reunions, the 20th, 30th, and Eric, the 40th and 50th. He and Rosa didn't have any children but had a full life with extended family.
Sadly, Eric passed away February 7, 2024. He is dearly missed by his wife, Rosa, and extended family and friends. My you rest in peace, dear classmate.

I don't know if we had a class together, but for awhile we talked to each other a lot. He was quiet, but did have a sense of humor. God be with Eric.
