Roxanne Rozelle Friend was born in Huntington Park, California on January 8, 1945 to Donald and Winfrey Rozelle. She, her two brothers, Ivan and Reuel, and two sisters, Rachel and Donna. were raised in South Gate, she attended Bryson Avenue Elementary School, South Gate Junior and Senior High Schools. She had a quiet demeanor but was warm and friendly with a sweet smile. Roxanne enjoyed being member of the Rainbow Girls in Downey and continued her involvement through the years.
After high school she started working as a clerk for Fairchild Corporation, she and Stuart "Stu" Friend married on June 6, 1964, and she continued working until they were blessed with daughter, Susan, in 1966, and son, James, in 1968. She eventually returned to work as a loan officer for Pt. Magu Credit Union. They lived in Camarillo, California until 1987. Stu's job changed and they moved to Wahpeton, North Dakota for the next four years. Then they moved to Woodbury, Minnesota where she started her dream job at another credit union, Northwest Credit Union, and they lived there for five wonderful years. The twin cities were one of her favorite places and she was blessed when their daughter, Susan and family, made their home there and Roxanne visited there often.
Roxanne's husband took an early retirement from the 3M Company and started a job running a company in Mexicali, Mexico. They lived there for three "interesting" years and, even though she learned a little Spanish, she used her hands to communicate most of the time. After their three years were up, they retired to Mountain Home, Arkansas in 1999.
Through the years, Roxanne was actively involved in many organizations and continued her involvement in the Order of the Eastern Star for nearly 50 years from the Downey California chapter to the Mountain Home chapter. She was also a member of the Elks Lodge, the Republican Women of Mountain Home, and a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church.
Roxanne has led a full and interesting life. Besides her involvement in church and organizations, she enjoyed golfing, shopping, traveling (especially at Gulf Shores, which was her happy place), reading murder mysteries, and gardening.
Roxanne passed away June 7, 2024. She preceded her husband and two brothers in death. She is dearly missed by her son, daughter, two grandchildren, two sisters, and many nephews, nieces, and friends. Rest in peace, dear Classmate.

It is always so sad to lose another classmate. I went to Bryson with Roxanne and knew her growing up. She was one of the sweetest girls with a quiet, but friendly, personality! She certainly had an interesting life and I wish we had kept in contact for us to know each other in high school and later as adults! My condolences to her family.
