John Wilhelmsen graduated in the Winter Class and moved to Maui, Hawaii several years ago. A friend since junior high and bowling buddies, Don Wolfson, notified us of John’s passing earlier this year and wrote the following beautiful obituary. “John was raised by his Mother as one of JEHOVAH’S witnesses. Married with children, in the 70’s he packed up and went to South America to spread the “gospel” (good news of God’s Kingdom). I believe John had two children, and a couple wives (not at the same time) :) John and I reconnected 50 years later on Maui. We had a great time on Maui. “Grumpy old geezers.” Truly a loving being. John, although being wheelchair bound would share the “good news” with whomever he met. He and I are of the same hope, and beliefs. So much more of a personal nature is in my heart. AMEN” Thank you, Don, couldn’t have been more beautifully said. John was married to Melinda Armijo Liera, of the Summer Class, and they had three children, Lisa, John, Jr., and Amy. Neither John nor Don joined our website, but feel free to post your remembrances. John will be dearly missed by those he loved and loved him.

Sorry to hear about John, did not know him that well but he seemed to be a really nice guy.
I was glad to hear the Don Wolfson met with John in Maui, I have wondered for years how Don was and where he was, I had heard about thirty years ago that he was in the islands but that was all, Don, Dennis Hughes and I were good friends in Liberty Elementary School, and then Jr. and High School, but then Don disappeared. Hope he sees this and drops a line to all his friends who still think of him and wish him well.
